“Aed,” I paused as the shadow took form. “For an assassin, House of the Sun, you are a long way from home. Unless you are here to kill me.”
“Lady Gael,” he replied and was beside me. “For one of the royal house, where are your guards? And it is not your life I seek but I bring a warning. The Jewel rose a week, ago.”
“The witch’s moon,” and a sharp, cold claw dug my heart from my chest. “Who?” the terror lifted me off the ground.
“Your mother,” was all I heard as my screams left me void.
